Initial Thoughts

First of all, I have to say that this movie has received all kinds of award nominations and rave reviews from some of the critics, but I had also heard that Tera Patrick was not a very good performer in adult movies. Tera is a huge star and she's not very exciting? I had to see this.

What You're In For

I very quickly learned that this was not my type of pornography. It was very Playboy™ like. All the women posing and playing with themselves in a beautiful setting with music playing in the background. Then after that, they all have sex with a guy and you go into the next girl and next scene.

What are the hottest scenes?

I would have to say that when the movie opened Tera Patrick was posing and masturbating in a waterfall. It was hot for a little while but then for me it went on too long.

Most Annoying Scene

It wasn't so much annoying scene as annoying thing. It seemed like every part of the movie followed the same order of events. Girl poses in beautiful outdoor setting. Girl masturbates. Then guy shows up. Then she blows him. Then they have sex. Then they caress. There was no veering from the plan at all. So it became monotonous.

Although the location that they chose was nothing less than gorgeous, they showed it a lot. It seemed that they would cut to it just as you might start to get excited. Tera Patrick would be playing with herself and really getting into it...BAMM...A shot of the ocean. Hello??? I might have gotten excited if you didn't show me the water.

There also wasn't any voices, just music. So I didn't hear any moans, groans or dirty talk, things that usually get me all hot and bothered. And the music didn't change up at all, it was pretty much the same thing over and over again for 83 minutes.

Overall Thoughts

Overall this is not a porno for me, but that doesn't make it a horrible flick. It's just not my type of porno. Who do I see watching this movie? Tera Patrick fans and couples. The Playboy™ style of it would be great for couples that want to watch sexy movie but don't want all the hardcore features that come with them.

The location is gorgeous, right out of a fantasy. All the actors are attractive. For the most part the music is rather soothing and could take the couple into their own little world of romping. The sex isn't hardcore although there are a few close-up shots that get right in the middle of the action, so it doesn't totally lack filth. I just kept thinking of that Playboy™ commercial that says something like, "You and your lover just got finished having a romantic dinner...What are you going to watch, the weather?" That's kind of what it feels like. Island Fever is a beautifully, sexy movie to watch that may get you both feeling frisky. It's porn without being real porn.
